Western Style Playing Cards

A board game company approached me to design and produce my own unique standard 52-card deck. The designs were completely up to me but needed to include both the front and back of each card. Each card had to feature its own unique symbols while maintaining defining elements to ensure they were still recognisable as part of the same set. From this, I set out to create a western-themed deck aimed at people who enjoy the western genre and blue-collar, country lifestyles. This audience values simplicity and effectiveness in design — something that feels authentic and relatable to them.

Overall, the final outcome was extremely well received and met all the key points of the brief. The cards had a rustic feel while remaining simple and easy to understand. Each card also featured its own individual symbols, helping to keep every design unique as well.
